Jesus, born without sin, lived a sinless life and was crucified on a cross to pay the penalty for the sin of the whole world. The final week of his life recounts the suffering He went through, starting from Palm Sunday. On that day, at God’s appointed time, He publicly revealed His only Son, the Messiah to the world. Jesus Christ rode into Jerusalem on a donkey to fulfil the prophecy made about Him by the prophet Zechariah. The people welcomed Him with shouts of Hosanna meaning Lord, save us now, and responded to His presence by waving palm branches and laying their garments in His path. The people were expecting the Messiah to free them from Roman rule but instead he had come to free them from something greater and far more important. He had come to liberate them from Satan, sin, and death.
