[ps2id id=’section-1′ target=”/]We would like to sell or lease a property. Who can help us?
Property is a gift for the whole church to use for the mission of God. God’s call on your life as congregation/s is an important consideration in selling or leasing a property.
Contact Hoon You, Lucia Fitzgerald or the Presbytery Office and we can walk you through the process.
[ps2id id=’section-2′ target=”/]We have some property sale proceeds. How do we access them?
Property is a gift for the whole church to use for the mission of God. God’s call on your life as congregation/s is an important consideration in using property sale proceeds.
Contact Hoon You at the Presbytery Office and she can walk you through the process.
[ps2id id=’section-3′ target=”/]We have groups that use our buildings. What do we need to do?
If the group is using your building once a week or so use the licence agreement form (link). You will note that groups need to have public liability insurance. The Synod offers this service for a fee if the group does not have public liability. Go to the Risk and Insurance Service website for the relevant form.
If the group is going to exclusively hire your building then a lease needs to be arranged. Contact Lucia Fitzgerald to help you through the process.
[ps2id id=’section-4′ target=”/]We have some major building works planned. Who can help us?
Any building works over $50,000 need to be approved by the Presbytery Resource and Development Committee. If you have building works of this size please contact Lucia Fitzgerald for advice.
[ps2id id=’section-5′ target=”/]We have been asked for a Certificate of Currency – what’s that?
A certificate of currency indicates the level of public liability insurance that the church holds. If you are running activities on public land or want to hire a building, for example, it is common for the owner of the property to ask for such a certificate. A certificate of currency is available here
[ps2id id=’section-6′ target=”/]We have had some vandalism at our church. What do we do?
Vandalism of church buildings can be distressing to your congregation. Please inform the police of what has been happening. They may be able to provide advice on better security for the church buildings. Please also contact Risk and Insurance Services to make sure you complete the relevant insurance claims, if required.
Cameron Walker, the Synod Occupational Health and Safety officer, is also available to give you advice.
[ps2id id=’section-7′ target=”/]Do we need insurance?
The UCA in Vic/Tas has insurance for all our property and public liability. This means that if our property is damaged, or if people are injured through our ministries or on our property, there is money available to help repair the property damage and support people through their recovery. As a congregation your insurance payments ensure that people will be looked after properly in the event of a disaster or injury.
[ps2id id=’section-8′ target=”/]How do we make an insurance claim?
The Synod manages all insurance claims. They can be contacted 03 9251 5924 or via email.
If you have other insurance questions please go to the Risk and Insurance services website.
