A little can Go a Long, Long Way: E.Tucker with Thirsty Ground, May 2018
Jesus crossed to the far shore of the Galilee
To get away from it all, to get some peace
But the people followed, they had travelled all day
They wanted to hear what this man had to say
It was late afternoon and the sun was low
No food or shelter, such a long way from home
So many people, getting hungry and tired
All of them waiting, for some sort of sign
A little can go a long, long way (x4)
Jesus turns to Phillip, asks, “What shall we do?”
Where can we go to buy enough food?
“No take-away stalls here!”, He jests to his friend
But it’s no joke for Phillip, no he can’t comprehend
“We could never afford it!” was Phillip’s reply
More than a half year’s wages, for everyone to have just one bite!
Then stepped up a young boy who held out a gift
of five small barley loaves and two small fish
A little can go a long, long way (x4)
“Have the people sit down,” Said Jesus with a smile
“We’ll bless this food and share it all around
With a whole lot of faith and a whole lot of love
And a whole lot of help from the One up above”
And when everyone had eaten, more than their fill
There were baskets left over, there was plenty still
The lesson to learn from this story so old
Is that there’s more than enough when you share what you hold
A little can go a long, long way (x4)
A little can go a long, long way
No matter how small the offer you make
A little can go a long, long way
A little can go a long, long way
