Year 2020

I believe that, as we share these familiar stories once again this year, we should note this theme of transformation in them, and also note that many of our neighbours view Christmas as a time which transforms us into our best selves. 

In our preparations for celebrating the coming of Christ again this Christmas, we must “Stay awake!” and ready ourselves for the birth of love again in us and into a world in need.   

Then our eyes and hearts will be opened to see a stranger in need and respond appropriately. Lord, help us to see. Open our eyes, our minds, our hearts…..  

We cannot learn to love without taking risks and becoming vulnerable. We are not alone. God’s love can cast out our fear as we learn to trust him more – the task of a lifetime!  

The kingdom of heaven is like this: it’s like a wedding banquet when the bridesmaids wait for the arrival of the bridegroom and greet him with a procession of light in the darkness with with their lamps which are filled with oil and lit in readiness.

The greatest among you must be a servant… those who exalt themselves will be humbled and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”

How uplifting! How joyous! How reassuring! Whenever I think of our Congregation at Launceston South, I am constantly and persistently amazed at the many many rich and varied missional paths…

I have sinned, and I have done wrong, but I can’t really remember ever having acted wickedly though…

God made it possible for Moses and his people to view their new lives, even in the wilderness.
